Hibiscus yellow Thailand

AED 45.00

Flowering hibiscus is a treasured shrub among many gardeners. The Chinese or tropical hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis) is a show-stopping variety with large, colorful flowers that bloom continuously through the summer and fall. Prune hibiscus yearly in the early spring. Remove up to one-third of the bushs old, unproductive, misshapen and wayward branches. Then, as the plant produces new growth in the spring and summer, periodically clip off the growth tips about 1/4 inch above a bud to encourage branching and more productive flowering. Water hibiscus one to two times a week the first year after planting. Water it with about 1 inch of water so it seeps deeply into the plants root zone. In subsequent years, water about once a week during hot, dry spells. Feed hibiscus every month during active growth using a balanced fertilizer. You can use a liquid or granular fertilizer, applying no more than the rate listed on the label. Avoid touching the stem or leaves with fertilizer, and water well after applying a granular fertilizer.Do not overwater or overfertilize. Hibiscus has many medicinal values.

Hibiscus is a diverse genus of flowering plants known for their large, showy blooms and lush foliage. Here’s an overview of hibiscus, including its characteristics and care tips:

Characteristics:

  • Growth Habit: Hibiscus plants can be annuals, perennials, or shrubs, depending on the species. They typically range from 3 to 10 feet (0.9 to 3 meters) tall.
  • Leaves: The leaves are often glossy and can vary in shape, typically being lobed or serrated.
  • Flowers: Hibiscus flowers are large and come in a variety of colors, including red, pink, yellow, and white. The blooms can be single or double and often measure 6 to 12 inches (15 to 30 cm) across. They typically last for only one day but new flowers continue to bloom throughout the season.

Care Tips:

  1. Light: Prefers full sun for optimal blooming. At least 6 hours of sunlight per day is ideal.
  2. Watering: Requires regular watering, especially during dry spells. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged.
  3. Soil: Thrives in well-draining, fertile soil. A mix that retains moisture but drains well is best.
  4. Temperature: Best suited for warm climates (USDA zones 5-11, depending on the species). Protect from frost, as many varieties are sensitive to cold.
  5. Fertilizing: Use a balanced, slow-release fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer) to promote healthy growth and flowering.

Common Issues:

  • Pests: May attract aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Regular inspection and treatment with insecticidal soap can help manage infestations.
  • Diseases: Overwatering can lead to root rot. Fungal issues may occur if there’s poor air circulation.

Uses:

  • Ornamental: Popular in gardens, landscapes, and as container plants due to their striking flowers and tropical appeal.
  • Culinary: Some hibiscus species, like Hibiscus sabdariffa, are used in teas and culinary dishes, particularly in tropical regions.
  • Medicinal: Various species have traditional medicinal uses, including as natural remedies for various ailments.
