Guzmania- Scarlet Star is a genus of bromeliads, which are tropical plants known for their rosette-shaped leaves and vibrant inflorescences. Guzmania- Scarlet Star are popular in indoor gardening because they’re relatively easy to care for and can add a splash of color to any space.

Here are some key points about Guzmania care:

1. **Light**: They prefer bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch their leaves, so a spot near a window with filtered light or under a grow light is ideal.

2. **Watering**: Guzmanias have a unique watering requirement. They typically have a central cup or “tank” formed by their rosette of leaves. It’s important to keep this cup filled with water. Use distilled or rainwater if possible, as tap water with high mineral content can build up and harm the plant. The soil should be kept moderately moist but not waterlogged.

3. **Humidity**: They thrive in high humidity, so you might want to mist them occasionally or place them on a humidity tray.

4. **Temperature**: Guzmanias prefer warm temperatures, ideally between 60°F and 80°F (15°C to 27°C). They should be protected from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F (10°C).

5. **Soil**: Use a well-draining potting mix. A blend designed for orchids or bromeliads works well. Avoid heavy, clayey soils.

6. **Feeding**: During the growing season (spring and summer), you can feed your Guzmania with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer once a month. Be careful not to over-fertilize.

7. **Blooming**: The colorful bracts of Guzmania are actually modified leaves, and the true flowers are usually smaller and less noticeable. The bloom can last for several months, and after it fades, the plant will eventually die off. However, Guzmanias produce offsets or “pups” that can be replanted to continue the cycle.
