Water once a week and spritzing leaves with water throughout the summer will help keep your peace lily hydrated. The plant will droop a bit when thirsty, telling you when it needs a drink. If you pay attention to when it usually starts to sag, you can plan to water one day before it generally happens. Never let your peace lily completely dry out and wilt, or sit in overly wet soil.

Peace Lilies can live in low to bright, indoor sunlight. Prolonged exposure to bright direct sunlight may burn and scorch their leaves and dry out their flowers.

Fertilize peace lily once in every 6 weeks with liquid fertilizer preferably organic

The Peace Lilly (Spathiphyllum) is a beloved houseplant renowned for its striking appearance and minimal care requirements. Native to the tropical rainforests of the Americas and Southeast Asia, it is well-suited for indoor environments where it can thrive in low to moderate light conditions.

Appearance:

The Peace Lilly is distinguished by its glossy, dark green leaves and elegant white flowers. The flowers are not true blooms but modified leaves called spathes that surround a spiky central structure known as a spadix. These white spathes can last for several months, providing a clean, sophisticated look.

Care:

Peace Lilies are relatively easy to care for. They prefer indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Too much direct sunlight can scorch their leaves. They should be watered when the top inch of soil feels dry; overwatering can lead to root rot. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent water from sitting at the bottom.

Temperature and Humidity:

These plants thrive in temperatures between 65°F and 80°F (18°C to 27°C) and appreciate high humidity. If the air in your home is dry, you might want to mist the plant or place a humidifier nearby.

Air Purification:

One of the key benefits of the Peace Lily is its ability to improve indoor air quality. It can filter out common indoor pollutants like benzene, formaldehyde, and trichloroethylene, making it a healthy choice for your living space.

Toxicity:

It’s important to note that Peace Lilies are mildly toxic to pets and humans if ingested. They can cause irritation or discomfort, so they should be kept out of reach of pets and small children.

Maintenance: Regularly dusting the leaves and occasionally repotting the plant when it becomes root-bound will help keep it healthy. Peace Lilies are also known to signal their need for water by drooping, so if you notice this, it’s time for a drink.

Overall, the Peace Lily’s combination of aesthetic appeal, air-purifying qualities, and relatively easy care make it a popular choice for indoor gardening.
