Maintenance of Dracaena Lemon Lime:

  • Pruning: Regularly remove yellow or dead leaves to maintain the plant’s appearance. You can also prune the top to encourage bushier growth or to control its height.
  • Feeding: Fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in the fall and winter.
  • Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years or when you see roots growing out of the drainage holes. Choose a pot that is 1-2 inches larger in diameter than the current one.

Potential Problems:

  • Pests: Dracaenas can be susceptible to common pests like spider mites, mealybugs, and scale insects. Regularly inspect your plant and treat any infestations promptly.
  • Leaf Drop: If the leaves are dropping or turning yellow, it may be due to overwatering, underwatering, or low light conditions.
  • Brown Tips: Brown leaf tips can indicate low humidity, over-fertilization, or fluoride sensitivity. Dracaenas can be sensitive to fluoride in tap water, so using filtered water might help alleviate this issue.
